Skiff Stories - Episode #8 - Captains For Clean Water
Просмотров 6 тыс.5 лет назад
Hell's Bay Boatworks was born from deep in the Everglades. The old-timers used to say it was "hell to get into and hell to get out." So they built a boat that could. To show their support for our mission, we have donated a 2019 Hell's Bay Waterman Skiff that will eventually belong to one of you. We made this video to commemorate what this boat stands for.

With a diverse style of fishing provided by both of his guiding locations, it takes a special boat to accomplish all of his requests. The Marquesa definitely fits the bill.

Awesome
Thanks a lot! This master shows it so well
Cool tip with Flip!
Thank you Flip for this inspiring story. Gripping, and stunning.
You need to rename the boats to Hell Yeah boats. Great history here. Thank you!
That's something I have thought of alot thanks for sharing. it's the little things beginners need.
🙏🙏
To think who would run that boat from Miami to Bimini these days crazy
trying to listen to you talk over background music sucks
Where are your Manley pliers?
why can't you post the Price of your boat on your website? what's the big secret?
Pretty dang slick 😊
Where can you get food silicone spray?
Continue tying and going Flip.
Great Idea Flip
I feel exactly the same Flip, but I try my new flies out on Bluegill and they always work no matter how bad they are 😂
Flip could read the ingredients to a box of cereal and it would sound like a poem.
I’ve done very little fly casting from a bow, but often wondered how you keep your fly line out of the riggings of the boat. Excellent tip!
Thank you for you service sir
Legend
Gotta love the honesty! Because in the end us great fisherman really don’t know what the hell we’re doing, except having a blast
Wow very inspiring story. I'm sure I met you at the Fly Shop during Chco's book signing a few years back. You mentioned you golf professionally but not your inspiring journey. Best of luck to you and your family.
If there is fish around and they are feeding. They’ll pretty much eat anything. Find the birds then the bait fish then game on :)
Badass!
Listening , watching those Ole guides and fishermen stirring old grease brings tears. Fish on.....
Can you put a trolling motor on any of these skiffs? Or just push pull
Flip, you are without a doubt, the greatest fisherman of my lifetime. Thank you
Any issues drifting backyards into a strong choppy water and water splashing up onto the motor or boat?
Outstanding job guy's and to all at Hell's Bay Boatworks another great day and many more to come.
The living legends!
You might not be able to do that if wind is blowing into your casting arm; unless you want to wear the fly as you see the fish go by…
Stay out of Colombia. As a Paisa and proud indigenous Colombian who actually have dead family live family that I can’t know ever now and has family not kidnapped left in the street bleeding for going to the store for food… god poor you and your rough story of knowing for five years our actual lives. Fuck you stop talking about Colombian politics be helpful. Speak up about Ingrid and what an elitist Colombian will treat others like and speak up so we don’t have another election lost and more death. Who cares you were in the fucking usa imperialist army YOU TRAINED THE PARAMILITARIES WHO KILLED OUR ENTIRE NEIGHBORHOODS AND JUST CUZ IT ALSO HARMED YOU( NOT DESTROYED BUT HARMED ) YEAH HOW DO YOU THINK WE FEEL! I’m from the Colombian jungle and guess what no boat or platform gives a fuck I’ll never see family again and the genocide we are going through trying to stand up for our land without violence ends in massacre. HE ELECTRD TO GO TO THE BLOBAL SOUTH AND GUESS WHAT FUCK YOU AND YOUR ABILITY TO BE BOATING AND STILL BE A VICTIM. YOU LIVE ON STOLEN LAND! You aren’t blessed you are an imperialist. You were kidnapped by actual children who find arms to the closest revolutionary activity in a world that’s inequitable but it’s a happy ending cuz YOU white boi are safe
It’s interesting to see how tackle has changed. Hadn’t fly fished for some time and went to get a new reel. Asked for a right handed reel. Guy asked me which hand I asked which hand I cast with? I said right. He said I needed a left handed reel. I think this is a generational thing and due to the fact that most fly reels pre late 80’s? were right handed and most weren’t convertible. And so we leaned to cast right handed and reel right handed like Flip and many great casters do. And just like many tools ( Skill Saw, drills etc.) were set up for right handers. Things have changed with many tools being now being ambidextrous and more lefty friendly. It does make ergonomic sense to reel left handed if casting right handed so you don’t have to change rod hands. For me, as I try to age gracefully, a key is to continue to learn new things. So I bought the left handed reel and am learning how to reel left handed. Another thought also occurred to me. Since I have so many right handed reels, and so I’m learning how to cast left handed.
Wish I can afford one now.. beautiful boat and work. Thanks from Texas
I am in the bahamas and the beavertail is the boss in shelow water
What lb leader would you start on a 9 wt floating fly line
Honesty
My most favorite place on earth. Started camping in the backcountry in 1996. This year’s trip will bring me to over 70 nights in the most beautiful place on earth

Wow, very nice 🎯‼️
I personally have been Timeflies since I was 13 mostly freshwater Midwest and up for East Coast but once I move to Texas it changed my whole Direction and then I found out once I move to Florida is a whole different ballgame cuz we went from grass Flats to mangrove flats and that's when I learned there's all different pattern here and what I learned and the shallow streams in Missouri and upper Ausable found out fishing Nims and mergers and what the hatches were and that made me focus on my saltwater fishing game and now I've been working and focusing on me Reinventing my own flies so that I can progress my own fishing because I practice a lot of these ones and they do work but I find out the more enjoyment I find out of my fishing is when I tie my own pattern that I invented myself go out and it's productive and then I carry on with my day with a smile
So many flys to tie with so little time...😁 think's for sharing such quality wisdom. Been there! Got a hat . Best regards... walter
